MudBugs: You must consider the reason for the loan and the context of the conversation. Here It is clear that I meant $200 to gamble and $100 if we loose.
I believe that people in the world need faith, to hope that life doesn't just end at death that life goes on. People need it to console their fears and doubts. Even though there are really no facts saying that God exsist, people should be entitled to worship free of Atheist pressure.
the mere fact that someone believes in a nonexisting matter,is somehow strange to others, that will lead to your behavior and thinking about this person in a different way.example: the mayas, the incas, the indians etc...and their beliefs in their gods that we know in this present day, is total ignorance. worshiping the sun, a sacrifice is offered every nights so that the sun will rise again....but now we know better.what is different now?one of the biggest money making scheme is the church, one of the most powerful banks in europe belongs to the vatican, among other things.
People should be allowed to believe what they want--our choice is not to believe.
And just because she chooses to believe doesn't make her someone who condones sacrifices, behaves inappropriately/ weird or believes that we should give money to the church...
you are the one who is acting strange!
I'm with Pbrighton on this one. Although there are a lot of people that can somehow remove from their thought processes the impossibilities of their beliefs, for others, it just doesn't make sense whatsoever. The stories of Gods were made up by early man in order to control populations and provide "answers". Religions that have survived have the right balance of fear / reward and are propagated through tradition, authority and false revelation. God is not real, and when you realize this truth, you become free from the shackles of religion and enter the world with new eyes and free thought. (And realizing that you're not going anywhere after you die is NOT a big deal.. you were dead for billions of years before you were born, did that matter to you?)
