So I'm on the subway platform today, and this guy's walking around shaking a cup full of change like he wants money. He doesn't say anything, or even look to be in particularly dire straights, he just shakes this (full) cup at everyone. Then he gets on the train and does the same thing, right in everyone's face. By accident I eyeball the guy, but don't give anything. So of course he walks right up to me and shakes the cup. I wanted to tell the guy off, but I had a late night and was tired and didn't care that much. Now I'm mad though. If you want something from me, at least ask. |

Your argument is flawed on several accounts. To start, the gentleman was definitely a bum, a hobo, a social outcast, he sleeps on the street and has a limited wardrobe that probably smells like poop. Give the guy a break, he doesn't know about manners or politeness. Furthermore is probably crazy. The majority of homeless people in the world were at one time within a psych facility of some kind. Just out of the hope that the man won't shiv you in cheek I would toss him some money. Manners don't apply to hobos, social outcasts or the deranged. |

Not all bums are crazy... in Las Vegas some of them are there by choice. If they only spent the same energy on getting a job, they wouldn't be a bum in the first place. So you're right... let them demonstrate some manners and maybe they'd get paid.
