The media and fans alike have buried Mike Vick's career with wishes for a lengthy prison sentence. However, I feel that Vick deserves a second chance. Heck Danny Heatley the NHL player who killed a fellow teammate in a car crash got away with only giving speeches as a punishment. I think that a similar sentence should be given to Vick. Obviously this has already left an impression on him that will help him have a different look at the world and perhaps talking to kids and the public will help open the world up to dog fighting and cruelty of it. So I say dont give Vick a lengthy prison sentence, allow him to use this to help others, make his penalty a couple hundred public speeches. |

This has to be a joke, Mike Vick is guilty of a terrible terrible act and should go to jail for a long time to pay for what he has done. I am sick of celebrities and athletes getting away with a slap on the wrist for horrendous crimes that the rest of population would go to jail forever for. The case with Danny Heatley is a prime example. He is guilty of vehicular manslaughter and he gets off with giving some public speeches. Look at nicole richie, she goes to jail for a couple hours. Things need to change, and Vick can be used as an example. Like the great film "Copland" says, No one is above the law. |

If you look at his lifestyle, he lived large, supported a group of losers, killed animals and his only redemming quality was his ability to throw and run with a football. He is a sick person who does not deserve a "pass" on this because in actuality, his association with that group is indicitive of where he is actually most comfortable living and where he belongs. Prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law, strip him of his NFL job, take all his money and make him a happy man.

The Michael Vick "crime" is just another example of ESPN sensationalizing a story in order to driver viewership. 7 years ago, before ESPN cared about being popular and building viewership through tabloid-esq journalism, Ray Lewis killed a guy and, because the story was not beaten to death, he was able to get through this and become a face of the league again. ESPN is doing a disservice to it's money maker (major sports) by dragging them through the mud when the smell a story...
