GLADIATOR: A POOR ACTION FLICK OR MASTERFUL DRAMA

In my opinion Gladiator is a terrible action film. The fight scenes are stupid, the characters are poorly portrayed by bad actors, and the plot mixes fact and fiction to make the Roman Empire look lame and slaves look like epic heroes. Putting that aside Russell Crowe's dramatic adventure for revenge is nothing more than drawn out threats and weak action shots. I can't stand guys talking about how badass he is messing people up with his sword. You want to see a badass think Martin Sheen in Acopalypse Now or Christian Bale in American Psycho. What is even more disturbing is that this crap box won 5 acadamy awards, this makes the oscars look worse than the grammys.. What makes me nuts is that so many people love this movie. Can't we all just open our eyes and say it.. This movie is lame. |

Galdiator is without a doubt a masterful drama. If you want to see a guy wearing a giant minotuar mask get his head chopped off you got to see Gladiator. You can't even begin to compare Apocalypse Now to Gladiator. Apart from the scene with Robert Duvall "Charlie Don't Surf!", that movie is dreadful. Russell Crowe is a bad ass. When he isn't throwing phones at people he's in the colliseum kicking ass and taking names. What makes this movie a masterpiece isn't just his quest to avenge the murder of his wife and son but the fact that he dies in doing so. It stands on a pedistal only with Braveheart. Not enough directors are willing to kill the hero but Ridely Scott did and won 5 academy awards for it. Need I even mention the kick ass soundtrack to this movie as well as the pimp armor Joaquin Phoenix wears at the end. If you want action, then you need to see Gladiator. Where else can you hear a name like Maximus Decimus Meridius. |
